Sustain it!!!

Sustenance - The act, the art, the penance, the science, and the mastery of preserving, continuing the existence and life of an existing, alive object for future.

Every object has its/his/her own say in the bigger frame of action taking place in Universe. No body can deny the importance of even a single pebble of sand in the ocean. Our Earth is after all is tinier than a sand pebble when viewed from the scope of Universe.

If a God created the world, the Universe, it requires another God to sustain it/them.(One of the elemental essence of Hinduism).

Somehow I get carried to the life of my late Grandfather, who was one of the youngest freedom fighters of nation in his part of World but in my view an epitome of good sustenance capabilities. After India got her independence he devoted himself in some of the popular newspapers of my state,Odisha (There has been a recent passing of a bill in Parliament that changes the name of Orissa to Odisha.Well I support it because somehow it seems politicians are right this time.:P) and came to work with some budding personalities (List also includes a handful of ex-Chief Ministers of Odisha) who were to make name in popular social spheres. In numerous public and private utterances of them which I have come have across about my Grandfather is that he wont do any effort to break an existing rule and pattern that is popular and benevolent to masses.

Effort mentioned is very much easier to be said than practiced, believe me! In your real life, more so in professional life, you come across a numerous instances where you have to pick your path between two roads, one road that leads to your profitability but may not be sustaining a benevolence and another which religiously practices it. I, for the all the good influence I inherit from my late Grandfather think, think, think twice over before choosing one of them.

Asian Treat(Retreat)!!!

Recently I went for an official team lunch to a South Asian cuisine specialist restaurant in Pune - Malaka Spice and was spell bound by the options of food available. The menu had an universal appeal to me from the time GO.From very fine noodles to sweet potatoes' mash as a starter to intriguely cooked prawns with great combination of salt and fine pepper and other spices to some funky shapes of chapattis like Coiled Chapattis to an entire diaspora of European Drinks - both cocktails and mocktails, the Place had it All!!! How I forget the presence of "Great American Deserts".

Sometimes I get intrigued by the universal character of Asia and its countries and cities.

Consider China, you will notice an enormous spell of number 1 over it."1 is power"- Chinese never forget to repeat and repeat over.1 is the most universal number I guess.

Consider India, the world's largest democracy, constitutionally does not distinguish among its widely diverse ethnic, regional, religious groups.

Consider Japan, the collection of about 7000 islands, its capital city Tokyo is the largest metropolitan region in the world. Now what more can explain the universal character of Japan than the literary translation of its name - Japanese name for Japan is Nippon - Land of Rising Sun.

Consider Malaysia, one of the most bio-diverse nations of the world, considering its size it can be said as the most densely bio-diverse nation of the world.

Consider Indonesia - nation with highest Muslim population is greatly diverse as regards to its ethnicity and race.It is known that Indonesian archipelago has been inhabited since not less than 2 million years!!

Consider Russia - the largest nation of the nation, the country where you need to change your
watch 11 times when traversing fully from East to West.Russia almost tops the list in almost all natural resources' chart.

Consider Arabian Peninsula - the largest reserve of Oil, Natural Gas and most prominent land form of lifeless Desert!

Consider Iran/Iraq - world's most turbulent international relation of late.

And last of all(I want to end it quickly because I guess my thoughts will go on!), Consider Afghanistan/Pakistan - source of world's most radical religious fundamentalism.

Universalism never ceases in Asia.

Mr. Swine Flu presses panic button in India(Pune) !!!

Time was ripe for Mr.Swine flu to visit India, and owing to his origin in western world, he chose its favourite spot, Pune on the western shore of India. I dedicate this blog to the plethora of confusions and calluousness Mr. Swine Flu's visit to Indian shores followed with.

Pune is home to the largest campus of Infosys, India's most adept representative to the increasingly changing global corporate world which has slowly started to take companies of Indian origin seriously. This statement is meant to stress that Pune has seen much of the good events which ushered since the early part of 1990s which has positioned India in the global map more often than any other city in India. How can miss the adage Pune has own for itself being the "Detroit of the East" and the reason is anybody's guess. Being strategically located to the commercial capital of India also makes the living standard in the city much enviable to the other cities of the country.

I have been associated with Pune city for more than 3 years now and thought myself to be more or less acquitanted with the general behaviour of its inhabitants i.e. humans of Indian origin until who-else than Mr.Swine Flu surprised me.

Now coming to the point, let me throw a light on the big picture which arose on the basis of the events that followed on Mr. Swine Flu's visit to the city and somewhere we were told that our new guest is merciful enough to shake his hands with lot of humans (Indians in this case). Again somewhere down the line, we found that some pre-medicated Indians who shook hands with him lost their hands. Most of them were having light grips based on their age (either being too young or too old) or others had some weaknesses based on their occupation or daily habits. This made us to believe that probably Mr.Swine Flu is an angry chap now and has come here to settle some of the previous scores. We left no stone untouched to pacify the anger of Mr.Swine Flu. Our state governments too took some serious steps for that. It scorned on every establishment which may encourage Mr.Swine Flu to shake hands with the weakened classes of our society who may lose their hands in the process. The targets were schools, private coaching centers, colleges, multiplexes, shopping malls and the list goes on. Then we thought our government may be right atlast this time. We started thinking since some of us are losing their hands while shaking with Mr.Swine Flu why leave an oppurtunity to shake hands at all? We plastered our hands (wore masks ranging from N95,surgical masks and lot more, much of which went to black marketers' stock pile) so that we dont shake hands with anybody at all. Some hospitals were doing checkups for the fingerprints of Mr.Swine Flu on the hands (Testing of blood samples for H1N1 virus) and we thought why not swarm those places. After all who wants to lose his/her hand? We swarmed and in large numbers(Somewhere around 54k people got themseleves checked for H1N1 virus in last week ), showed the power of Indian population. Somewhere our great political leaders were playing their small and cruel games. Our infamous Dahi Handi celebrations got disrupted. Vegetables vendors were told to make an excuse and shut their shutters. How can I forget our TV channels who made it point to show each instance of loss of hands because of Mr. Swine Flu as a BREAKING NEWS!!!

Life came to a halt in this usually full-of-life Pune city. I flew with my mom(All these events were very agonising for her ) to my home town some 1000 miles from Pune. I pray that Mr. Swine Flu leave Pune soon.

MJ-The Smooth Criminal is no more!

Michael Jackson - so famous as 'King of Pop' is no more. He succumbed to a massive cardiac arrest in a LA afternoon, leaving behind some controversy regarding the cause of his death : whether it is his over-medication or greed of his coterie or extreme mental and physical exhaustion for rehearsals on This is it concerts or his over-dependency on deadly drugs or god knows what !

Anyways coming to real terms world has seen the end of an extraodinary human life. MJ is some way was the best thing at the best moment.

Well coming to my side of story, I have heard/read the charm of legendary man 'MJ' quite a number of times during my growing-up. Memomy of his encounter with the city of Mumbai (then 'Bombay') is still very strong in my mind. When I was a young kid growing up in eastern Indian town of Cuttack, I strongly remember how the entire world(so to say India) was madly following his stay at some 5-star lodge(20-something floor of the sea-facing Oberoi) in Bombay, his extravagant show in Andheri (I guess it is Andheri Sports Complex), his show of gesture to Indian fans and kids in hotel and on road, and all the more hubble bubble surrounding that. Also I can remember the pandora-box like legal encounters which he faced being on allegation of a child sex abuse. Also I can remember that I was introduced to the collection of the ageless music and videos of his albums of eighties (Thriller, Smooth Criminal, Moon Walk, Beat it !, They dont care about us , so on ...) during my engineering days either directly by my friends or by exploring Kgp's infamous LAN. His Moon Walk turned into an icon. I like the music of 'Smooth Criminal' and 'They dont care about us'.

But anyways Thanks MJ for leading such an wonderful life !

Let me end with lines of his 'Beat it!'

Beat it, beat it, beat it, beat it
No one wants to be defeated
Showin' how funky and strong is your fight
It doesn't matter who's wrong or who's right
